Mystery tree? Popped up when we weren’t looking.
Can anyone id this? I don’t know what it could possibly be except my first thought was a squirrel hid a walnut that bloomed. It popped up rather fast when we weren’t looking. Eastern Nebraska

There is a lot of info out there about AP players. I’m one myself but I like to think I’m on track to recovery. But we all know it’s a possibility that affects many players and their loved ones. It seems like AP is such an internal issue that AP players really can’t change from outside motivation.
There’s some good suggestion here on Reddit and BGG on how to deal with AP prone players. The best I’ve seen are as follows:
- The PACE method. This is a communication or planning tool to that can be used to engage with someone. In this case, you make aware the general slowness, then call out the AP, then limit them (like a timer) and lastly call the game due to the issue remaining. I think this is a good methodology for playing with randos at open game nights or a convention.
-If your friends with the AP offender, it can be known information and you simply play certain games with them if they won’t change.
-The slow player is not invited back.
Ouch. But my real question is this- is there a way to become not AP more effectively? Can you train decision skills?
For the take-my-move-back-APer the answer is no take-backs. For people just not paying attention, that really is just a personality trait and it’s on them to care.
But for the two overwrought thinkers; the every possibility analyzer and the tactics begin at the start of my turn player…
Is there a way? Is there a way to train decisiveness? Other than throwing these people into a busy kitchen on a Saturday night with the ticket machine cranking out orders. Tick, ergh, tick, ergh. The weeds are coming! The garde manger and the chef de cuisine are out sick so everyone is jumping in to wipe plates and assist the cold apps. The tickets keep coming!
So how can we confront (gently) an AP player and not just complain? Can we point to a tool that can help them grow?
