hello, i’m a 22 y/o and i have a past medical history of severe bipolar, bpd, adhd & a whole bunch of other psych issues. i missed three years of dentist appointments and got my first cleaning done in years around a month or so ago. since then i had to go back in for three follow up appointments for fillings (if i had to guess i had at least 7 teeth filled). today they told me that i might need to get a root canal if filling this tooth ends up not being enough for this cavity i have. due to my unstable mental health, i’ve always struggled with brushing my teeth twice a day and i’ve never been able to floss consistently (no one in my family ever has, so i never learnt the importance of it until later down the line and even after learning about it, i haven’t been able to develop the habit of doing so). i normally only have energy to brush my teeth in the morning before going to college and nothing else. i’m currently using the therabreath toothpaste i found on amazon. is there anything i can do to make dental hygiene easier to manage? i’m really scared and i want to start getting better. thank you!
