I’m a 4th year student, in my final semester, with all of my grades intact, and everything necessary fulfilled. However, in my 2nd year, 2nd sem, I mistakenly took a lower liberal course instead of the required upper liberal.
Up until now, I had no reason to flag this, and based on informal conversations with my advisor, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. After I applied to graduate, I wasn’t aware of this issue until a week or two ago, which by then is obviously too late to enroll in another class.
I’ve been in contact with my advisor and program chair, who are saying that there’s likely nothing they can do.
A friend suggested Intensive Courses through the Chang School, but the grades would not come back in time for my to graduate this June.
My final step is to email the liberal studies department directly, but I have low hopes at this point.
Of course I understand that I should have booked an appointment in the fall to check up on my grad requirements, but that’s in the past at this point.
I have a job lined up for the summer, so it’s not the end of the world if I don’t graduate this summer, but it’s just extremely frustrating and pointless for me to have to spend $500 on a singular summer course.
If anyone has any tips, advice, or know of anyone who’s been in a similar situation, that would help immensely.
