Hey all! 👋🏻 I hadn't seen anyone posting this yet (so if someone did, forgive me), so I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of changes to local elections for this November. Nathan Magsig, currently apart of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, is running for State Senate District 12. The filing deadline to run for Senate has closed and he's the only one who's running in that district, so he will be taking the seat in November. He has officially dropped out of the running for Board of Supervisors which has caused a domino-effect.
Current Mayor-Pro Tem Diane Pearce announced on KMJ and Facebook Thursday that she has dropped out of the race to be re-elected for Clovis City Council. A special election will be held early 2027 for the vacant spot on Fresno Board of Supervisors which she will now be running for.
To my knowledge, it seemed she was running unopposed in her district - so do we think anyone will take advantage of the seemingly empty race? I came to see if anyone had thought about what this means for the Clovis City Concil election.
Mayor Pro-Tem Pearce's post was way to long to screenshot (it would have been half a dozen screenshots) so I shared the Facebook post with the announcement down below in the comments.
