Searwood 600 or XL? And best accessory recommendations

I have been on the hunt for a new grill, which has lead me to the Searwood - seems like it really can do it all! My question is for those who have the regular 600 and wish they got the XL? For content, we're a family of 4 and tend to host dinners of 10-12 people maybeeee once or twice a month. Will I regret the size of the regular 600? This will be my first pellet grill, so I am also want to be conscious of heat time and fuel efficiency coming from a propane grill. It will also be used primarily for burgers, steaks, etc. with the hope of eventually getting into some low and slow cooks.

Next question: best accessories? Seems like the front folding table is a must. I would love to be able to swap agriddle at times for smash bugers, and/or use cast iron for searing at others. Is it worth upgrading all of the grates to cast iron and then getting the full griddle insert or going with CRAFTED system?

EDIT: Cost difference is roughly $350 CAD. Unfortunately no retailers near me have them in stock or have floor models so it's tough to gauge the size difference between the two.

TIA!

Hey folks,

I'm on the hunt for a new grill to replace our aging Napoleon propane. I know pellet grills have spiked in popularity over the last few years, and to be honest, I haven't been that interested in one until I came across the Searwood. I love the idea of being able to do large smokes, but I don't see that being my primary use.

My hope is to find a setup that’s efficient and relatively “set and forget,” while still offering the flexibility to smoke and use a griddle for things like smash burgers. Most of my cooking revolves around burgers, brats, and steaks. Right now, I’ve got an aging gas grill on its last legs, plus an Ooni pizza oven and a Camp Chef with a griddle. I’m hoping to consolidate all of that into a single, do-it-all solution, which is what’s led me to compare the FlexFlame (for its versatility and efficiency) against the Searwood (for its craftsmanship).

I have read a ton of posts, watched videos, and it seems like the Searwood can sear, but it's sort of "meh". So my question to my fellow BBQ lords is, does the taste of smoke from the Searwood outweigh the con of not having as good searing abilities? Anyone who has made the switch from propane to pellet, particularly the Searwood, is there anything you miss (faster heating times, etc)? Is the XL worth $400 more than the regular 600?

TIA!
