Is there hope for me? trying to transition from Warehouse ops to Product Design.
I will do my best to keep it short.
I have been learning UX design and a little bit of everything around since i was i believe 22 did some courses here and there (Ex: IxDF), read O'really, rosenfeld media books and attended masterclasses explaining concepts from strategy to information architecture, psychology of choice etc etc etc.
I just turned 27, have no degree and most of my experience is on warehouses. A couple of months ago o learned how to use claude code since i also learned a bit of coding a couple of years back and kinda understood enough to be comfortable with the tool and develop an web based app for calling forklifts in the warehouse i worked at since we didnt have a proper way of requesting help without having to walk for minutes trying to find help, it was one of the main blockers of productivity and morale drop for the team. The app isnt being used anymore since the software company they use (its a 3PL, I didnt have access to) changed the ways orders are picked and making the solution i designed not a good fit, but was for the period of time it was used, it improved the workflow.
Self doubt and constantly switching strategies have held me back a LOT, im always trying to finish something that can kinda make me look better for my lack of degree.
I am finally working on making that app i made a portfolio piece but self doubt keeps holding me back from time to time. I know the job market is brutal right now but i feel i wont be the case forever, AI cant pick strategy and be held accountable of design decisions that directly impact business metrics so i feel like evetually hiring will pick back up, but would like to hear your opinion about my situation. Thanks!
