Warning for tourists in Pattaya ⚠️

Warning for tourists in Pattaya ⚠️

There’s a scam operating around Beach Road / Soi 13/2 near Walking Street. During daytime the place looks like a normal closed bar, but in the evening it transforms into one of those fake ‘herbal remedy’ shops.

The setup usually works like this: People approach you pretending to be friendly tourists, start casual conversations, then suddenly begin talking about miracle hair growth, weight loss or herbal treatments. They often show fake before/after pictures and try to walk you toward a nearby shop.

A lot of tourists fall for it because the people approaching seem relaxed and trustworthy at first.

Just a heads up for anyone visiting Pattaya:

Don’t follow random strangers to herbal shops

Don’t buy miracle treatments from the street

If something feels rehearsed, it probably is

Location: Soi 13/2 area near Walking Street.

People think this Pattaya herbal shop scam works because tourists are stupid. That’s not really why it works.

The trick is that it doesn’t start like a scam at all.

A random foreigner starts casually talking to you like another tourist. Completely normal conversation. No sales pitch. No pressure. Just friendly small talk.

Then somewhere during the conversation they mention how they fixed hair loss, dark circles, weight loss or some other problem with a “natural Thai remedy.” They usually say they’re from Dubai, Europe or somewhere else and are only in Thailand for a short holiday.

Then comes the smart part: They don’t bring you directly into a shop first.

Instead they walk with you to 7-Eleven to buy honey or another ingredient yourself. Psychologically this lowers your guard because now it feels like a normal harmless thing instead of a setup.

Only after that do they bring you into the herbal shop.

Inside, everything suddenly speeds up: “Mix this.” “5 spoons of this one.” “You need this powder too.” “300 baht per spoon.”

There are usually multiple people behind the counter and a subtle pressure to keep things moving fast before you stop and think clearly.

The real scam isn’t the herbs. It’s the social engineering before you even enter the shop.

And once you notice the pattern, you suddenly start seeing different foreigners leading different tourists into the exact same place all evening long.
