Golf 6 Oil pressure problems

Hi everyone,

first of all, thanks for reading. I’ve owned a manual VW Golf 6 1.8 TSI (2009, engine code CDAA) for about a year now, currently at 179,000 km.

I already knew these engines tend to have high oil consumption, but mine was especially bad. When it also started consuming a lot of coolant, we decided to replace the head gasket.

Since the engine was already apart, I was convinced to also replace the piston rings and valve stem seals.

So we pulled the whole engine, noticed that a previous owner had installed the wrong pistons (???), replaced them with correct ones, installed a new camshaft bearing bridge, lapped the valves, replaced the valve stem seals, reassembled everything correctly, cleared all errors, started it again — and now we get a low oil pressure switch fault.

After that we cleaned the oil pump pickup screen, replaced the low oil pressure switch, replaced the oil pressure control valve, checked the camshaft bearing bridge screen, changed the oil filter: same error.

Even AI couldn’t really help, so now I’m asking in forums. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Sorry if anything has been translated wrong, I'm from Germany

Anyone Knowledgeable about Golf 6 1.8 oil problems?

So we pulled the whole engine, noticed that a previous owner had installed the wrong pistons (???), replaced them with correct ones, installed a new camshaft bearing bridge, lapped the valves, replaced the valve stem seals, reassembled everything correctly, cleared all errors with vcds, started it again... and now we get a low oil pressure switch fault.

Sorry if any specific parts have been translated wrong, I only know the german names.

Maybe I also forgot something we tried.
