I know a lot of people have concerns about affording a home birth, so I wanted to share something that is working well for me.
Starting in 2026, I switched from traditional insurance to CrowdHealth. For pregnancy and birth, the setup is pretty simple: you pay the first $3,000, and they cover your expenses after that.
Membership cost varies monthly, but so far it’s averaged around $140/month for me and will never be more than $200/month.
You can use any provider as long as they’re considered to be charging fair market rates. I haven’t had any issues with this so far.
One important thing to note is that you need to join several weeks before becoming pregnant for it to be covered.
I have a referral code if anyone ends up joining: CSBM3T (it lowers your “crowdfunding” fee for first 3 months to $44 & gives me a bonus as well - thanks!)
I know firsthand how stressful pregnancy planning can be, and for me this has prevented basically all financial stress around pregnancy and delivery. Hope it helps someone exploring options!
