35, only worked menial job for last 10 years, need help.

So, I was recently let go after pushing carts at Walmart for 5 years (had worked as a cashier part-time four years before that).

I would like to take this opportunity to do something other than carts/retail work for a job. The problem is I have NO idea how to make “Pushed carts for five years” desirable to any company that would hire me.

Can anybody who was in a similar position give some advice?

Turns out my eyes WEREN’T having trouble reading!

So as the title says, I’ve been struggling with reading books (my favorite hobby) for years now. I would try to read a physical book, kindle, or comic and my eyes would get strained in less than half an hour and I’d have to stop. I even went to the optometrist to have my eyes checked and nothing.

Until a few days ago I decide ‘why not’ and got a reading light and read my paperwhite with the backlight off.

I read for an hour without a break.

Turns out my eyes might be sensitive to the backlight and just never realized!

I’m so happy I can read again guys!
