First timer in league need tips
So I made a team in a local basketball league there’s a lot of tall and good players.
I’m 39 years old 5’9 closer to 5’10
I’m like 170, I’m starting to do more HIIT workouts, because I get exhausted faster than some people.
I noticed when I play league I tend to freeze up a little bit, I can’t play my game. I noticed when being older, I guess if I miss a shot or make any mistake I get called out for it, but if anybody else does, nobody says anything.
I am shooting over 50% from three and it’s been six games
My first two games i made 6/11 from three, since then I’ve only got to shoot the ball like four times, I also made one buzzer beater
Anyways, my question is when I play one V one. I play with confidence, they’re really good players and I beat them. I move really good and fast. But for some reason when I play with teammates, I get rusty because they’re not confident in me, you can feel the energy in the vibes. So when I’m dribbling, I lose the ball here and there and it’s not the same when I’m doing one V one. I make dumb passes, I feel like I freeze up a little bit and I’m not thinking, everybody’s watching, when people see me messed up I feel like they already have their decision on me so how can I show them how I can really play if they already count me out.
As I mentioned above, I do get exhausted pretty quickly until I get my second wind, I know that could be a factor as well with the lack of confidence.
Just for reference, I played mainly the number two even though I don’t live and die by that position because everybody kinda just takes over and does whatever so I’m not like a true shooting guard but my smaller frame puts me in that position compared to others.
So any advice would be great for my confidence and maybe my physical ability, like I said I could move and dribble. I just can’t when it’s 5v5. And I look tight, not relaxed. And when I dribble, sometimes I go too fast I can’t think and get into my bag because I’m thinking too much.
Post a picture of my buzzing beater.
