Franklin made it through. I have some aftercare questions

Franklin made it through his procedure and I brought him home. He was anxious and scratching at the trap, so I gave him some churro treats. I then realized that I could fashion a little room where he could recover using cat gates to block the door. I was able to get him into the little room, but now he’s anxious and keeps trying to escape. I think I have them pretty well blocked in, but he might be able to escape. Do I try to get him back in the trap or a carrier? Can I give him gabapentin to help him just be calm or do I just wait this out? The picture is from the camera I put up so I could watch them. I’m afraid he’s gonna hurt himself trying to push the gates out of the doorway.

Franklin’s TNR day didn’t go as planned

I got him to the city shelter but they referred me to a few local rescues with whom I’ve coordinated an appointment for the TNR. I was devastated at this, certain that I’d never trap him again.

When I brought him home I was able to feed him and put flea meds on him, and he forgave me.

Tonight I trapped him again! Tomorrow he’ll go to the clinic for neuter, vaccinations, ear tip, etc. I’m almost as anxious about him being in jail again, but I’ve taken all your encouragement to heart to help me be calm.

Now that I know the process, I plan to continue until I trap all the intact felines around me. Pics are of Franklin (seal point tabby), Loki (void), and Cat To Be Named (tuxedo on the roof) as my high priority targets.

Bonus fact I learned today: Franklin has been using the cat shelter I put up a few months ago! 🤎

This semi feral boy has been coming around my place for a while but his apparent health has declined rapidly recently so I finally got my courage up to trap him and today he just went in the trap! I closed it and covered it and put him in my garage. Tomorrow morning I will take him to the local animal care center at 10:00.

I’m having a lot of feelings about this sweet boy just stuck in a small container that he doesn’t understand for many hours, and then be put in the big scary car and taken to the scary vet place to get treated. Tell me I’m doing the right thing and that he’ll be ok. I know intellectually he’ll be better off once he’s fixed and no longer getting into fights. And they can give him antibiotics for his injuries, etc. I’m just in my feelings about it and don’t want him to be scared.

A few weeks ago I got one from Luxembourg (374) and last week one from Mexico (1,304). No shade to all the lovely cards from high participation countries, I love those cards too. These are little gems in my stash.

Hi LBC, I'm a former photographer and I have some film photography equipment that might be good for a photography program. Does anyone know of a HS or one of the colleges that might have those kind of classes? As a transplant without children I'm not familiar with where there might be arts programs. And let's be honest, I'm not even sure if my dinosaur equipment is still relevant or useful, but if it is I'd love to help a school out. Thanks for any tips!
