What is the process like to be 11b?

Im in talks with my recruiter and really considering 11b. I have good current/future plans at home at the moment but I really want to scratch the itch.

With that being said, what is after bct? I keep hearing the terms AIT and OSUT, but I’m not sure which applies. I also don’t know what either of those are. Is there any free time or is it essentially an extended bct? if anyone can explain more that would be awesome.

On top of that Im worried about the fitness side of things. Im fit, but I’m not sure if it’ll be good enough. I’ll list some stats below if anyone cares to comment

7 min - 1 mile

15 min - 2 mile

I struggle with rucking and Im not sure the pace/distance needed

70 push-ups

20 pull ups

3:00 plank

I would really appreciate any help, especially since I know nothing about the service in general let alone the process I’d go through in the Guard

Is 11b worth it in the Guard?

Im 22 at the moment and in talks with a recruiter. I’ve always looked at the military as something I’d love to do, but at the moment Im really not interested in going full time.

I have solid plans going for me at home that I have genuine passion for, but I really want to serve. Ive always been inspired by the men and women who get out there and put in the hardest work.

As far as 11b goes, it’s the only role in the service that has my interest. Im very fit and very gung ho to go do some hard shit. On top of that I want to meet other people who want to do some hard shit as well; it’s so uncommon these days.

Is going 11b in guard even worth it? Is it a good amount of that military feel or is it a job that active would just be more ideal?
