This will be my first MacBook and I’ve been researching a lot before buying one.
I mainly do:
iOS app development
Xcode + Cursor
some web dev
normal multitasking stuff
I’m not doing super heavy workflows like local AI models, multiple VMs, huge Docker setups, etc.
What I’m mainly curious about is real-world RAM usage with Xcode + Cursor in 2026.
A lot of people say 16GB is enough, while others say AI coding tools are starting to make 24GB+ much more worth it.
For people currently using Xcode + Cursor daily:
Does 16GB still feel comfortable?
Do you notice swap/memory pressure often?
At what point did you feel like upgrading RAM mattered?
Especially interested in experiences from people using Apple Silicon Macs recently.
