Thanks for your comment. About me not having as deep of an understanding as I "claim" to have. Laptops are my hobby, not my career, but it would seem that is a foreign concept to you.

"Dude, all are modern operating systems, it's not rocket science. Also, the "native" argument is BS. Native OS means that the OS was specifically designed for a set of hardware components, which is again untrue given there has been a wide range of hardware that works with a wide array of OSes. That argument might work if you go back in time enough decades, when systems were truly tailored for their hardware, but after the widespread adoption of home computers, everything tried to be as compatible as possible. There are no "shenanigans" involved. I cannot criticize your enjoyment of laptops, everybody has preferences, but most of your arguments demonstrate you do not care for understanding technology as deeply as you want us to believe."

  1. I guess Windows 2000 is modern then? Or XP? Or Vista? Hell, Windows 7 came out in 2009! Windows 11 came out 12 years after, and by then hardware shifted enough that it would make a difference.

  2. Native OS = Whatever OS the device shipped with. My X220 shipped with Windows 7, so it runs Windos 7. It does in fact matter because some issues can present, such as Windows 10 and 11 not having Intel HD Graphics drivers, or the GMA950 in my X61 being limited to DirectX 9.0c and being a WDDM 1.0 meant for XP /. Vista

  3. Love the contradiction, by arguing against my points you are criticizing my enjoyment.

So now that I've "explained" my reasoning, what now? Want me to give them away? Sell them for cheap? Throw them in e-waste? Run them over with my minivan? Give them to you since you "understand" and I "don't understand" what I'm saying?

The Jubilee that started this project

Apologies for the poor renders, my main gaming laptop died and so I had to take photos with snipping tool.

Honestly the only points this scores against the Jubilee is practicality (four-door sedan vs two-door sedan), handling feel (FR 55/45) and power (310HP / 295 lb-ft 2.5L supercharged V6)

Partial-alu. body, AHS steel monocuque chassis, MacPherson front with double-wishbone rear, and just about 21 MPG on WLTP Class 3 scoring.

Guess the models and win a prize!*

*There is no prize other than satisfaction.

(If you're seriously going to ask me for a laptop: why? Most of these are at least ten years old and have HDDs, I doubt you'd want to wait the 15-30 seconds for startup)

Currently I have it running Windows Vista and a flip clock screensaver to be the most overkill clock I could possibly own. Any other ideas?

The WiFi module, antennas, RAM and HDD caddy were yoinked for my good X61, which now serves as a glorified Kindle e-Reader. This one also gave up the good chassis and display, which were far more intact / functional than Images 4-7 showing the damage.
