I prepare salmon often, at least 1-2 times a week, so I’m not a rookie, but I might have made a rookie mistake…
I defrosted a frozen piece of salmon from Costco on the counter top yesterday. I kind of forgot about it and it was left sitting there from 4:30ish to about 11:30ish. Then it was too late to cook it, so I put it in the fridge overnight.
Smelled it this am and smelled a-ok, not fishy at all. Baking it now at 425 for 35 minutes but I’m worried it was left out too long. ChatGPT says absolutely discard!
Please help me. Is it teeming with bacteria now? If it was, would it definitely smell putrid?
TIA!
