Sirvante, satire, and Cervantes?

I'm a total noob here grasping at straws. Looking into some medieval poetry, I found a term I hadn't heard before: sirvente (satire poem or poem of the servants).

I can see the connection between lower classes criticizing the upper classes becoming satire, But I'm wondering if the term itself could have been retooled by Miguel de Cervantes to create a pen name for himself. He certainly does poke fun at class and the Medieval tradition. I'm probably way off base here, but was Cervantes the family's name before he was a writer?
