Why is this sub so pessimistic?

I understand reddit attracts cynics and Debbie downers, but this sub seems replete with it.

At least from the outside, design seems cool. you get to learn interesting things, get paid a salary most Americans would dream of, get to live in nice parts of the country. Are there layoffs? sure, but those exist in most industries. is it the most stable thing? No, but nothing is. Even Medicine, you have to take the risk of student loans and grinding away your 20s, and if you don't like medicine, well, you might be out of luck. I feel like every career that pays a lot requires risk.

Maybe I'm just a starry eyed undergrad, but im not sure if anything I'm saying is out of the realm?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my observations, and the state of the sub.

Edit: I’m specifically talking more about digital design here
