SCAM Alert – Accommodation Issue in Kuala Lumpur (Chamber Luxury Serviced Suites KL)

Good morning,

My name is Sylvia. I booked an accommodation in Kuala Lumpur at Chamber Luxury Serviced Suites KL in April / May. On April 2026, my reservation was confirmed on Booking.com through a message from the host, and it remained confirmed until the day of my trip.

I flew from Bangkok, and upon arriving at the property address with my luggage, I was informed by the lobby staff that they could not provide any information and that I would need to contact the host directly. When I called the host’s phone number from the hotel lobby to arrange check-in, my calls were hung up on twice, and I was then informed — late at night, while already waiting in the lobby with my luggage — that the room was no longer available.

I received absolutely no prior notice. While I was there, I also saw at least three other people in the exact same situation: guests who had booked rooms in the same building through Booking.com and were abandoned at the last minute. While trying to understand the situation, I discovered that this building contains multiple privately managed units rented by independent agents. Guests are only given the lobby address, but upon arrival, they are unable to properly contact the hosts responsible for the reservations.

When I explained my situation at the reception desk, I was recommended another agent who offered me a different room in the same building. Besides clearly being a scam, this situation is EXTREMELY dangerous — especially for a woman traveling alone. Suddenly, a man I had never seen before, who also rents units in the building, approached me in the lobby offering to help and show me another room. As a solo female traveler, it is incredibly unsafe to trust a stranger immediately after being scammed and to follow him alone to view another apartment.

I sincerely hope Booking.com takes action regarding this host, because this is not only a scam — it is also putting travelers in vulnerable and potentially dangerous situations. What I and several other guests experienced was unacceptable: late at night, in a foreign country, without knowing anyone, I was forced to urgently find another hotel because I did not feel safe trusting any other room offers made on the spot.

DO NOT stay here — or in any Booking.com listing connected to the building “Chambers” located at 2A, Jalan Ipoh Kecil 34, 50350 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Best regards,
Sylvia
