I’ve been exploring Islam and feel convinced in my beliefs, but my family strongly disagrees and expects me to continue Hindu practices.
I’m being pressured to take part in rituals like Bratabandha, tilak, and bowing to idols, which I don’t feel comfortable doing. When I try to step back, it’s seen as disrespect or embarrassment to the family.
I also tried fasting during Ramadan, but I was stopped and punished for continuing.
On top of that, there are stereotypes at home—especially from my mom—about Muslims being “scary” based on media and fear, and she doesn’t really accept explanations that this is a generalization.
I feel stuck between my beliefs, family expectations, and constant conflict at home. How do people handle situations like this without everything escalating?
