Genuine question on what counts as "different enough" when it comes to avoiding stitch copying... I have this 1996 Beatrix Potter cross stitch pattern book and was planning to do the Mrs. Puddleduck design soon as a needlepoint design for my own use. Today I saw this new canvas and found so many similarities between the pattern in the book and the canvas down to exact number of stitches in the outline of the body.

I fear following this pattern would get posted here as copying the canvas when it is really following a vintage design from a pattern book...
