10 years of T1D - time to build something

10 years of T1D - time to build something

Hey everyone, I’m Sofian. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago and I’m 24 now.

I have learnt a lot over this time but I have also had some really close run ins - there were 2 occasions in which I fell into a hypo induced fit in which my girlfriend stepped in to save me both times. I was very lucky, when the paramedics arrived they told me that it’s not uncommon to find T1Ds that live alone less fortunate than I. In broad terms hypos are probably the thing I struggle with most, especially because I’m very active and exercise a lot.

I work as a developer now, and recently I started building an app that I hope could genuinely help people make diabetes that little bit more easier and even an alarm system that can potentially help save someone.

But I don’t want to build something nobody actually needs. So I wanted to ask people here:

What’s the one thing about living with T1D that still gets to you, even after years of dealing with it? Could be a daily frustration, a fear, something exhausting, anything. If you could fix one part of living with diabetes, what would it be? And I will do my best to bring attention and build it.
