I was a dog groomer for a company. Throughout my time at the job, animal injuries came out of insurance, but damage to equipment came out of my own pocket.

3 years ago, I was driving our mobile trailer, and a booking was in a row of units with only a narrow 1 car driveway. Essentially, due to the narrow space and large trailer, I accidentally damaged one of the pipes along the house.

I asked my boss if the insurance could cover it and was told no, I had to pay out of my own pocket. At that moment in time, I didn't think much of it, but now I'm thinking it comes under vicarious liability? Although I'm not wanting to screw over my then boss either.

The real estate agent got in contact with me and sent a $260 invoice, I mentioned the customers next door neighbour (who was either a plumber themselves or sent a pic to their plumber) had quoted $150-200. After some back and forth of who was arranging the fix, they said if i didnt arrange it, they would and it would cost more, so I told them to just go with their $260 (I was very busy and I don't recall if I could get the contact number for the customers neighbour), and to put me on a payment plan as I didn't have access to $260 at that moment in time. They said they couldn't do a payment plan, so I figured they would fix it (like they said they would) and send me a bill that I would pay for as soon as I got the funds.

The bill never came, and they didn't contact me until now, 3 years later, where they say they will get an updated quote for me to pay so they can get the job done. So they didn't fix it for 3 years? If it legally falls to me, I'll obviously just pay it, but wondering if either the company insurance has to pay or if there is some discussion needed considering the real estate agent waited 3 years, when they told me they would arrange it themselves and then didn't?
