Would jars of Prego pasta still be good 1 year after expiration date?

So I was helping to clean out the house of an older family member and we found 4 cans of Prego pasta. They were in a cool dark cabinet in the back so presumably have not been in any light. The twist tops are not popped and the color seems like regular pasta sauce. I know the only way to really tell is to open them up but wanted to get opinions before I try. Thanks.

So I am currently sitting at a score of 768. I am trying to get to 800 in 1 years time. The Good: Payment history is very good with no late payments. Amount of debt is very good with 25% of revolving utilization. Amount if new credit is exceptional with most recently opened account at 3yrs 5mo. The Iffy: Length of credit history is fair with the only credit card I have is the above 3yrs 5mo old one. Credit mix is fair with only the one revolving account credit card mentioned above.

No loans or debt.

Is it worth getting 1-2 new cards to up the mix for the hit on the average age? Or is it a wash? Even if it worsens my score a bit should I still go ahead and get the cards since my credit history is still only Fair?

Thanks.
