I find it interesting Oda focused on Luffy and Akainu here. It’s very clear by this point in the story Akainu holds a higher importance than the other admirals.
What do you think the purpose of focusing on Sengoku, Akainu, and a literal mentally dead Luffy for this page?
My guess is clearly something went wrong in his life through piracy that was enabled by the World Government. Whether it was a situation like Arlong Park and the Navy or Alabasta/Dressrosa and the Warlords/WG.
He enlisted with the goal in mind to destroy the warlord system. I mean for real - what could he have possibly saw? In Yu Yu Hakusho, Shinobu Sensui falls into despair after witnessing the atrocities of humanity and went on his path. What kind of atrocities could a man see that forced him to fucking blind himself????
