Buying an apap from clinic vs online discount store. Canada

Hi all,

Recently I got diagnosed with Sleep Apnea with 15.9 AHI. The sleep clinic that did my diagnosis has quoted me 2700 CAD for Resmed 11 which also includes mask, set up and continuous monitoring. My insurance will cover roughly 1600 of it but the rest is still pretty expensive.

I looked up online and found a resmed 11 for 950 bucks including a mask both brand new but from kinda like an outlet store. The insurance will cover 760 for it. This store doesnt do any setup or adjustment to pressure but almost 3x price for just the setup seems quite high.

The clinic told me if I go buy it online:

- they wont do a “mask setup and guide.” If I want them to do it, they’ll charge 250 bucks.

- They wont do setup of the machine or like a guide and they will charge $250 for this

- for continuous monitoring of my machine and setup they’ll charge another 250-300 for this (one time). This will include pressure settings and adjustments lifetime.

- The above charges (750-800) wont be covered by insurance (as per clinic).

Online store told me: I need a prescription from a doctor to claim insurance but i dont have any prescription, my sleep study results say “recommended” but no prescription. Where can I get that??

I am really confused as to what to do. I want to make my life better, sleep longer, be rested, be focused but idk what to do here.

Is it worth paying extra for all this? Should I get the apap and get the monitoring only? I dont really know or understand this situation. Would really love some guidance. Plsss help!
