I've posted here quite a few times for help since moving into our double-wide because professionals never seem to want to work on mobile homes 🙄 husband and I are going to have to do a pretty big project ourselves and it made me start to wonder just how many fixes we'll have to figure out on our own. What are the biggest or least expected things you've had to fix on your home because 1)it was impossible to find someone else to do it or 2) they gave you the "I don't want this job" price?

A few days ago I smelled gas underneath our oven and had our gas company come out take a look. They confirmed a small leak and weren't able to fix it, they suggested replacing the valve. My husband replaced the valve and sealed it, then tested it to make sure there was no gas leaking out. Today I smelled gas again. I bought a handheld gas detector and confirmed there is gas leaking from where the valve connects to the pipe entering the house. He used Megaloc to seal that area. Gas is off to the oven now and we'll be calling a plumber to check it out tomorrow, I'm just trying to figure out what we did wrong?
We had our AC unit serviced yesterday, only thing of note was that the coil was dirty. He cleaned it off and also checked the indoor heating/cooling system as well but there were no concerns with it. This morning I noticed a low hum coming from the indoor unit even though the AC wasn'trunning, so I checked it out and realized it was coming from the transformer. It's a very low hum and the transformer is warm to the touch but not hot, and there is no burning smell. I should be good to just monitor it right? Really don't want to pay to have someone come out again if it's nothing.
