Hello! I couldn’t find anyone who had a problem similar to this, so I thought I’d just make my own post.
Yesterday I opened up my slim PS2 to fix the ribbon cable that had scratched a few of my discs, I used normal double-sided tape and it worked fine afterwards. However, after testing a few games it couldn’t correctly read black PS1 discs, reading them as CD’s or nothing at all. I cleaned the sensor but that had no effect.
Today I turned the console on and it read one of the PS1 discs, but couldn’t load past the title screen. Silver PS2 discs still work but they load slower than usual. It has never had trouble reading black discs in the past.
Has the sensor suddenly died (unsure if it’s ever been replaced), or could the tape that I added be interfering with the ribbon cable? If so, what should I use to keep the ribbon cable down?
If anyone has any advice I would love some help on this! Thanks!
