Converting a petrol engine to diesel

SOLVED

Good afternoon, long story short I rebuilt an old Yamaha xj600 secaii motor and now have a spare parts engine lying around, and I got a dumb idea with the gas prices here in the US. Would it be worth trying to convert my spare parts engine to diesel? Or would it be more work and effort than it's worth? I know the US military converted some 650 KLRs way back when but idk if it's something doable at home with nothing but harbor freight tools and redneck engineering

EDIT: I realize this was a dumb and improperly worded question. I mostly wanted to try converting my spare engine to see if I could run resteraunt waste oil instead of petrol. I appreciate the comments and the information given. Also my bike runs amazing currently and if I had done that build I would have put it on a different frame not swapped them. Thank you all!
