Ok so there is a lot of context needed for this story so bear with me.
I (19F) and my grandma (70F) have always butted heads. She’s a very stubborn woman, and likes when things go her way. If they don’t she gets stressed and sometimes pretty angry.
My little sister recently won a school championship and was invited to compete at the world’s championship (very happy for her) and we had to go out of state to attend her championship.
My family isn’t exactly drowning in wealth, my grandparents however live comfortably enough where they have a motor home and travel very frequently. The only reason my family was able to travel to this championship was because we wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel because our grandparents were letting us stay with them.
So it was me, my dad, my sister, and both my grandparents in a decently small motor home.
I personally didn’t want to attend the trip as I don’t particularly enjoy traveling. However due to recent mental issues my mother suggested this trip to clear my mind and “soak up some sun.” I disagreed but I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
(More context my grandmother LOTHES my mom. Long story short my grandma is a boy mom ifykyk. But that’s why my mom didn’t come in the trip instead of me.)
Anyway, this morning I woke up to my grandma asking me if I’d like to go with her to the pool. I thought, why not? And told her I was going to get ready. She told me there was no need to get ready and that we should just go.
I however was still in my pajamas and had quite literally just rolled out of bed, I told her that I needed to put my swimsuit on and I wanted to put a little bit of makeup on (I was going to the pool to tan) and wanted to look nice because it makes me feel better about myself, and honestly it’s just kinda a routine atp.
She then got frustrated with me, telling me I was selfish and didn’t respect her time. I then told her to go without me and I would meet her there (you could see the pool from our campsite, maybe a 3 minute walk)
She got frustrated and left. I was a bit angry but shrugged it off and then proceeded to get ready to leave. As I was coming out of the bathroom to put my bathing suit on, she had come back into the motor home, and started insulting me out of nowhere. Telling me I'm selfish and I have no friends because I don't care about anyone or anything else.
I was so taken aback by the sudden hostility, and tried to talk to her, but again she just continued to throw insults. So I snapped, and just started yelling at her. After she left I called my mom and burst into tears, I was so angry and confused. My mom said she would buy me a hotel room until my flight home and an uber to take me to said hotel. I agreed.
