I’ve been a loyal customer with Verizon for over 25 years and currently have 6 phone lines, 2 iPads, and home internet with them.
I recently looked into upgrading one of my lines, which is currently on month 23 of a 36-month payment plan. I was told that I can keep my iPhone 15 Pro Max, upgrade to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and essentially continue my existing 36-month agreement (with about 13 months remaining).
According to the rep, after completing the 36 months, both phones would be fully paid off and unlocked to use however I want.
On top of that, they’re offering a $1,000 credit toward the new phone, applied over the final 12–13 months.
The only change required was switching my plan, which I’m okay with since my Disney legacy perk is tied to a different line.
Does this sound legit, or is there something I might be missing?
UPDATE:
Thanks to everyone who responded and shared their input. I ended up starting to record the conversation shortly after. Like some of you mentioned, it felt like he was just trying to make a sale and potentially take advantage of me in the long run.
That said, I don’t see myself leaving Verizon, given how well they’ve treated me over the years. I’m hoping the recording—which is over an hour long—will help if I need to report anything and things don’t turn out as he described.
I also checked the new projected bill with the upgraded line, and it only increased by just under $2. There aren’t any additional lines showing on the estimate. I’m not sure how accurate those projected bills are, but it’s still interesting to see.
