Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I are planning a road trip this August, so I came on here looking for tips, advice, cool spots to see, and great hikes to check out. Here are some of the places we’re considering:
Fremont-Winema National Forest
Valley of Fire State Park
Goodsprings
Yellowstone National Park
Flathead National Forest
Yosemite National Park
Big Sur
Grand Teton National Park
Boise National Forest
Zion National Park
Ecola State Park
The only places we’re 100% set on right now are Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Everything else is still flexible.
We’d love recommendations for fun hikes, scenic stops, hidden gems, or must-see places along the way. We both love hiking, exploring, and checking out unique spots. We also enjoy getting a little off the beaten path when possible.
We’re trying to keep costs as low as possible, so free camping would be ideal. If anyone knows great dispersed camping spots or budget-friendly places to stay near any of these areas, we’d really appreciate it. We also have an old 2002 GMC Savana Regency (she’s a beauty, but we’ve already sunk a lot of money into fixing her up), so we can sleep in the van if needed, though we’d prefer tent camping when possible.
Any advice, ideas, routes, or tips would mean a lot. Thanks so much for reading through!
