Kid needs contacts?

hi guys, I’m a middle-aged mom with an 11-year-old daughter. I had lasik in my 20s after being about a -2 and my vision is really great as far as I can see. No pun intended.

I was -.25 last exam.

I don’t usually wear my glasses, but if I do, I can see a remarkable difference in my distance. my daughter has a prescription of -1.75 and she never wears her glasses ever. she’s in fifth grade and just gets up from her seat when she can’t see the board and sits on the floor and just accommodate herself. she thinks her glasses don’t look attractive and I can understand that. I understand those feelings.

She’s a wonderful child and very mature in a lot of ways, but she’s very hesitant to put things in her eyes and I’m just looking for advice on whether I should get a contact exam

She gets dirty a lot and likes to play outside and is kind of rough and tumble and now she’s in Soccer and I just don’t know how well her vision is

It worries me because we’ll be shopping and she’s squinting to see the aisles in front of her

Am I in the right to try to recommend contacts and feel that this vision is not good enough to function?

she goes to middle school next year and I don’t know if she’ll be able to just go sit by the board like she can now being in the same class all day long

Toad reflection

this toad very rarely comes out of her terrarium. she has a tank mate but that one is very active . We’ve had her quite a few years, but I was playing on my phone and finished a cup of tea and just got her out so she found the empty cup of tea and decided to stare at her own reflection for about 20 minutes until she got bored. Lol.

I bought a car new in 2012 and I’ve driven it since so obviously I’ve saved a lot of money on car payments

i’m looking to buy something maybe around the two or three year old range and considering buying it in cash do you guys have any advice on how to handle getting a good deal if I do cash? Meaning not financing.

I guess I’ll buy a car from a dealer because I’ve never bought one from a person and I wouldn’t even know how to go about that.

so I bought a 2012 equinox brand new a super long time ago obviously. i’ve had a few repairs, but the car has been really good to me. well, I think it’s about time. I start looking for a new car. i’ll probably keep the equinox as a beater car but one thing I love about this vehicle is it has a pretty large back hatch capacity. I use it to go camping and travel and if I put the seat down, I can fit a ton of stuff in this hatch.

I actually bought a wooden rocking chair for instance, and was able to get it home by putting the seats down.

I don’t really want to buy a truck because I just don’t think that’s my vibe but any recommendations on a vehicle that has a really good hatch capacity?

I have not test driven a newer equinox, but they just look so small. i’m not sure if I could get less stuff in there.

Currently getting quotes and consults.

One place justified price by saying that each individual bracket that goes on each tooth cost $100. So for 32 teeth that 32 times 100 to equate $3200 for bracket costs alone. Really? Wondering.

I'm all about paying for orthodontist expertise. Not into lies if so.

So my son had his braces on for 3.5 years. I paid about 6k.

Update to post

My daughter has been to 3 consultations. She is a very minor case. Generally she needs to fix a lower cross bite on one side and her teeth are very very minorly crooked on front lower.

Was quoted as needing 12 to 15 months of brackets only at 6k ish.

I didn't ask for justification but I said I guess prices have gone up bc I paid about same for last kid with 3.5 years of brackets. I respect this orthodontist and he did a great job last time.

I said kindly I don't mean to be a pain but thought a simple case would be less.

This convo was with office staff. She told me most my cost is materials and said they pay as a practice $100 for each bracket.
