I currently hold in my possession a copy of the Shout! Factory Magoo Theatrical collection that I bought about eight years ago at a used bookstore, and it has been well-loved — maybe a little too much. The first disc is showing playback issues for roughly 7 minutes - from the end of Pink and Blue Blues (1952) through Hotsy Footsy (1952). a newer DVD player picks it up better than my current one, but there is still constant pixelation for a lot of this section. Looking at the underside of the disc, it appears the scratch is not too deep, but it is circular, so it messes with plaback for longer than it would otherwise. This set holds sentimental value to me, and I don’t want to throw it out because one cartoon and accompanying audio commentary aren’t playable, but I don’t know of any good disc resurfacing services in my area (middle TN). does anybody have any knowledge that could be of use?
