Maithil Brahmins who separate from their original community and give up priestly duties are included in the Bhuinhar Brahmin community. It is also stated that many of their religious rituals and mantras are similar to those of ordinary Brahmins, especially Maithil Brahmins. And because of this, some mool and gotra are the same in both communities.

They forced these Muslims to keep top-knots (Hindu-style hair tufts), shave their beards, and cremate their dead according to Hindu rites instead of burying them as per Islamic tradition. They were also restrained from performing Nikah (the Muslim marriage sacrament) and subjected to other humiliating and oppressive acts. These atrocities, which struck at the very root of the Muslim community’s religious identity and peace, were reported in contemporary newspapers like the Rohilkhand Gazette, which highlighted the pain and suffering inflicted upon the Muslim population by the Bhumihar estate holders. The reports expressed dismay that the government was not taking sufficient action to stop such oppression.
