Last night around 6:30pm, a group of kids (maybe 10–12 years old) were running up John Redmond Street in Cork, kicking people’s front doors as hard as they could and then running off. This isn’t even the first time I’ve seen this. About four months ago, I saw what looks like the same group doing exactly the same thing.

Back then I confronted them and told them I’d call the police, and they just got mouthy and aggressive. It’s honestly shocking how young they are and how they behave. There’s clearly zero respect there, and it makes you wonder what kind of upbringing leads to this.

I’m not going to get into a physical confrontation with a group of kids. These days you don’t know how a situation might escalate, they often have cold weapon and it’s not worth the risk with because they could call their parents or sue me..It’s frustrating because this kind of behaviour keeps happening, and people shouldn’t feel uneasy in their own homes because of it.

I’ve noticed similar groups around the Shandon area before, so I’m wondering if others nearby have experienced the same thing. If anyone else in the area has dealt with this or knows if anything is being done about it, it would be good to hear.
