Hi everyone,

I recently received my 2025 A/L results (Physical Science stream), and I am currently at a major crossroads regarding my university application. My career goal is to get into Data Science, but I want to make sure I am choosing the best path.

Which path is best for that from below, or is there a better path?

University of Peradeniya – SOR (Statistics & Operations Research)
University of Colombo – Physical Science If I select the combination of Applied Mathematics + Pure Mathematics + Statistics + Computer Science,

Besides that, I'm worried about the current state of the career market. I’ve been seeing a lot of videos and articles lately claiming that "Data Science is dead" due to AI automation and market oversaturation.

Is it still a secure and growing path, or is it becoming too difficult for fresh graduates to secure entry-level roles?
