hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from dentists or people with experience in dental issues.
for the past few days I’ve been having a problem with a lower left back tooth — likely the first molar (5th tooth from the center on the lower left side).
the symptoms I have are:
- strong pain that comes in waves over the last few days
- sometimes throbbing pain
- I’ve woken up at night because of the pain
- pain comes and goes multiple times a day
- sometimes it disappears completely
- no clear sensitivity anymore to hot/cold
- the tooth is very sensitive when touched or when I bite/close my mouth
- it feels like the tooth is slightly “higher” or hits first when chewing
- occasional pain radiating into the jaw and slightly toward the ear
- the tooth has had previous dental fillings done multiple times in the past
I also smoke, but I had stopped for about a week right before this pain started.
the strong throbbing pain has reduced for now, but the pressure sensitivity has increased, especially when biting or closing my teeth. Symptoms also seem to fluctuate a lot during the day.
I already have a dental appointment in a few days, but I wanted to ask if anyone has an idea what this could be and if this kind of fluctuation is common.
Thanks in advance for any help.
