What can you guys tell me about this ring?

My aunt gave it to me when I was a child as she was cleaning out her old jewelry. I thought I would grow into it, but I am 28 now and it is still way too big for me to wear. Is it worth taking to the jeweler to get it sized down? My mother thinks I should just throw it out or donate it, as it is likely worthless.

Also, any idea on how old it is? I was always guessing 1930s-1950s but I don't know anything about jewelry. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thank you everyone for your replies! I didn't expect to get so many so quickly! Don't worry, the ring isn't getting tossed out. I will show my mother your replies tomorrow, just to make sure there are no misunderstandings.

I'll admit I'm a bit shocked by some of the numbers tossed around though... I think I'll take it to a jeweler to get it resized, while keeping all your advice in mind. But first I have to get used to the idea of wearing something worth several hundred $ on my finger. I know it's silly but I am not used to that. I will definitely keep it for special occasions lol.

Thank you so much again for your help everyone! 🫶

Iranian music teacher's farewell to his school

Automatic translation of the text under @hamidrezaafarideh's post ( https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW1jOQWsAZz/ )

---

Today was the last day to say goodbye to my school

I have been repeating to myself for the past few days:

The last sound should be that of music, not bombs and missiles

I went there

I went in fear

Because I knew that at any moment

the sounds of explosions and air defense might break the silence

And you hear those noises at the end of this video

But I had to go

There is nothing left here now

No room, no door, no window, no chair

This place was the entire soul and life of Shida and me

33 years of memories

Effort and love of teachers and colleagues

This sound

Perhaps the last sound of this school

And maybe even the last sound I play

Maybe I won't be here tomorrow

But the sound remains

As a testament

To the history of our people, who loved and lived lovingly

For the day that again

Music will be the sound of peace

The sound of life

This is the smallest expression of my sympathy

With all the bereaved families

Fuck the war

Fuck the violence

Infrastructure that belongs to the people of this land

Is not something that can simply be destroyed or erased

After all

What of the patients whose breaths go silent when the electricity is cut

My mother

Iran

Take care of yourself, whether we are with you or not 🧡
