I honestly don’t understand how a company like Traveloka has gained such a huge market in Thailand.
If you’re planning to travel or book flights/hotels, I strongly recommend avoiding this platform.
Here’s what happened to me.
I booked round-trip tickets for a trip in May about 2–3 months in advance. We were traveling as two families. My friends booked through another app, while we used Traveloka. That turned out to be the beginning of a disaster.
A couple of days ago, my friends told me their flight had been canceled. Their platform automatically rebooked them onto a new flight with no hassle.
That’s when I contacted Traveloka.
Their customer service was extremely slow and unhelpful. I even provided evidence that the flight had already been canceled (based on public flight data), but they kept saying they needed time to verify. At the same time, they told me I could reschedule — but their app literally wouldn’t allow me to modify my round-trip booking. The system just didn’t work. It felt like a bug.
So I had to submit a manual request form.
After waiting, they told me:
- My reason was not sufficient for rescheduling/refund
- The alternative flight I wanted was already full
- My only option was to request a refund
For context, the total price for the tickets was around 10,000 THB (we booked early).
Now?
I’m forced to:
- Wait up to 90 days for a refund
- Rebook tickets at current prices
And the same flight my friends were automatically moved to?
Now costs around 30,000 THB.
Yes — I’m paying 3x more for the same trip.
I’ve used Traveloka for years, and under normal conditions, it works fine. But when something actually goes wrong, they simply can’t handle it.
No proper support
No real-time updates
No protection for customers
It looks like a polished platform on the surface, but when things break, it completely fails you.
Has anyone else experienced something like this with Traveloka or other OTAs?
