I really want to get into NUST, but I feel like my chances are low. I’m applying for the CS program and will be giving NET Batch 4. My O Level grades are 1A*, 5As and 3Bs, not the strongest, but I’m predicted straight A*s in A Levels. I think I can score around 140-150/200 in the NET, but my aggregate might still be low because of my O Level results.
A big reason I want to go to NUST is that there are family issues at home that are affecting me and I want some distance from that environment. I’ve often stayed longer at college even after my classes ended just to avoid going home and I guess I could do the same at IBA or Habib as well.
Even if I get in, convincing my parents won’t be easy since I’d have to move from Karachi and live in a hostel, and I’ve heard the dorms aren’t great. I already have offers from Habib and IBA so I’m unsure if it’s worth applying to NUST and spending my summer preparing for the NET, or if I should focus on getting ahead in CS and maybe take a course in something I enjoy.
