Dont be a burden

I am a 3rd Year student in Nust , and through my journey I have countered many batch mates in seriously concerning Financial conditions just to give the next semesters fee They mostly get in debt in the end , that u cant pay for atleast 3-5 years in this economy.

Getting in debt just for Nust is not worth it , especially as an engineer as u wont be able to Run your house as in this economy even 2 lakhs are not enough monthly, and u will be getting 80k to 130k at the start max at initial 3 years as an engineer.

I have worked as an internie in 2 industries in south punjab, and i have seen candidates from UET, PIEAS and other government institution with lower fees getting jobs with the required skills and no hurdles.

Be a responsible son/daughter and dont put unnecessary pressure on your parents for expensive education where u can get the same degree at lower cost and peace of mind for your parents.

Nust aint worth more than yours and your family's peace of mind.

Title: To the NUSTians who went on Semester Exchange: How did you do it?

Hi everyone! Junior here from SEECS. I’m currently trying to bag a spot for an exchange semester for the Fall 2026 term. My CGPA is 3+, so I meet the 3.0 cutoff, but I know the competition is tough since only 3 people get nominated per school.

I’m specifically looking for advice on:

  1. How to prep for the school-level interview.
  2. Whether I should take the IELTS now or if the NUST proficiency letter is actually enough to survive the visa process.
  3. The financial reality: NUST takes the full fee + 25% extra, so is the "free tuition" abroad actually worth the investment?

If anyone has gone to Europe on a NUST exchange, please drop a comment or let me know if I can DM you. Thanks!

Need Help Guys

Assalam o Alaikum ppl. I am going to give my NET soon and I wanted to secure admission in Mechanical Engineering in the Islamabad H-12 Campus. I've heard from my friends that the total cost (semester fee+ hostel fee) is around 3 to 3.5 lakhs which is very expensive. So does nust offer any financial aids or Scholarships? And btw I'm from karachi. So it better for me to get admission in NUST PNEC?

CSS or Startup in Pakistan?

I’m an Electrical Engineering student at NUST, and my real goal has always been to build a tech startup in Pakistan. I’ve never been very interested in the job route, so my focus has mostly been on entrepreneurship rather than CGPA.

Lately, my father has been strongly pushing me toward CSS. His view is that in Pakistan, no matter how successful a business becomes, it still has less security and value than being in the bureaucracy. He believes weak law enforcement and elite influence can put ordinary business owners at risk, and that bureaucracy offers authority, protection, and long-term family security.

He even says that if I want to do business, it would be safer to first go into CSS because people are less likely to interfere with the business of an assistant commissioner.

This has genuinely confused me because most of my thinking comes from western startup success stories, and I don’t fully know the ground realities of Pakistan’s startup culture.

Is this a realistic concern or an outdated mindset? Would choosing entrepreneurship over CSS be too risky in Pakistan?
