When we first adopted our coonhound the learning curve was steep.. through trial and error we found that our biggest tool was mental stimulation or “giving her a job”. Her favorite were the scavenger hunts where we hid treats all over the house and she got to use her nose to find it all! We rescued her in February 2025 so Easter kinda coincided with us figuring all this hound stuff out and I got the idea to throw her an Easter egg hunt. Fast forward a year and we constantly have plastic eggs scatter around our home! It works so well for us to fill with treats (or even her dinner) and hide them around. It’s her favorite activity hands down and I can’t help but follow her, it’s so adorable! The eggs are easy for her to open and this way I have handy, reusable, and washable containers. It’s been so fun to hide them in harder and harder spots and watch her learn and grow. Anyways, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, it’s her favorite and mine(:
