Problems of being a Delhi sikh
As a delhi born sikh with extended family (father side) in punjab. I only have one sister, no brother, so when i was little i used to go play outside and i have been called names and bullied many times because i used to be the only sardar guy. I used to think its fine we belong to punjab.
But when in holidays we used to go punjab every year where i have a lot of cousin brothers. I used to play with them and all but at the end of the day they will also make fun of me as I was little and I could not speak punjabi properly and I would feel okay then punjab is also not where i belong.
My father used to plan to move to punjab but my elder cousins would say that your kids will have a hard time in school here like they would be bullied, well due to many other reasons we stayed in Delhi.
I have seen on social media sites and punjab sikhs think like we are some kind of villain. They will blame everything on us lol, whether its politics, culture of anything else. I have a lot of sikhs friend in delhi and i have seen no one ever say anything negative about punjab or support something which is anti-punjab.
At the end of the day, a sardar guy in his teens wearing a parna and sitting among 20 other non-sikh people whether in tution, school or ground where he is feeling isolated but he is still preserving his culture, his identity, should not be look down upon atleast by his own people.
