27 F, T1D since last 22 years
As the title says, I've been Type 1 diabetic for last 22 years. I have dated a few people before. One of my boyfriend's mothers had a problem with me being T1. The next one used to care so much about me that he didn't miss asking me if I had food, if I was going through lows, highs, and I took my insulin before having meals. He basically had everything written in his note book to remember everything and did a complete research on how he must support me as a partner. And the current guy I am engaged to, and dated for 3+ years, doesn't know anything about T1D. He's as clueless as a little kid who wouldn't know anything about T1D at all. He's not aware how many times I take insulin in a day, what are you supposed to do when my blood sugar levels are high. Does know about lows but that's it. Doesn't know what's DKA.
The issue is he isn't willing to educate himself on these topics. I am really surprised that despite explaining to him multiple times, he didn't listen/understand.
Rn as a T1D, I'm in a situation which makes me feel like what have I done to myself by getting engaged to him?!?!
Has this happened to anyone before?
