I’ve been thinking about something lately and I want to know how other people see this.
Why does it feel like the more desperately someone chases something, the more it escapes them?
Like:
People who constantly seek recognition often feel ignored.
People who deeply want a healthy, stable relationship somehow keep attracting avoidant or toxic partners.
People obsessed with money seem stressed and stuck, while others who are more relaxed somehow attract opportunities naturally.
It almost feels like desperation pushes things away, while detachment brings them closer.
I’m not saying effort is bad. Obviously, you need to work for things. But there seems to be a difference between healthy ambition and emotionally chasing something because you feel incomplete without it.
So how does this actually work? Is it psychology? Energy? Confidence? Human behavior? “The universe”? Or just confirmation bias?
Would genuinely love to hear different perspectives on this.
