How likely am I to get my car insurance excess back?

I was parked outside my place. An uber driver dropping someone off clipped my car, drivers front side. It looks to be just aesthetic damage, some scrapes and scratches on bumper. Doesn’t look great and is noticeable.
The uber driver was driving a rental vehicle. I have all his details but the car he was driving didn’t look to have any damage.
I put a claim in and I have to pay the $900 excess upfront. Is it even worth it? What’s the likelihood I even get it back and he is found at fault?
I was always told to go through insurance because you get the lifetime guarantee on the work but it seems ridiculous.

Edit: I don’t have a dash cam or the rental company he used.
