So this is the first time I’ve had a wound this severe and none of my medical team has been all that helpful. Went to my PCP who is a nurse practitioner and she just said “
I don’t like that go back to the ER” I’m wondering if I need to go to a wound care facility or if this looks like a normal stage of healing.

Photos are from today through almost 3 weeks ago… when the laceration happened. I fell on my bike and the grips on my pedal sliced my thigh open. I posted this on another forum and luckily they informed me my stickers looked super infected and to go to the ER immediately, despite little pain and no fever. Turns out I had Cellulitis that was on its way to becoming septic.

Was in the hospital for 4 days, did antibiotic IV’s 2x a day saw a wound care specialist who gave me a bunch of Hydrofera Blue Patches, Vashe PH wash, and large Mepilex Border Bandages. They discharged me with four days worth on Antibiotics which ran out yesterday.

I try to keep the bandage and hydrofera on as long as possible but the wound is still exuding and I usually have strike-through (leaking through to the secondary bandage by day 2 like clockwork.

It’s still pretty sore, especially when I stand but I’m not on any painkillers (for sobriety reasons) I guess I’m going back and forth about whether it’s healing fine or if something is amiss. There’s no redness but some of the exuding fluid is still a little yellow-y but no thick pus or smell or redness. Surrounding area is still hard and an ultrasound suggested a small pocket of fluid but the hospital was certain it was just a hematoma and not an abscess.

I do have some mild hypertension issues, and am a 42
year old Black female, fairly athletic and active. I’ve never had something take this long to heal so idk what I should expect.
