Looking for input on a good beginner set for a left-handed 14 year old. He isn't shaving yet, so "man strength" isn't yet a consideration, but he is already 5'2" and will eventually be closer to 6'. Looking around, I've narrowed it down to the three options below, along with each one's pro's and con's. I'd appreciate input from those who have raised junior golfers. Being a lefty, there isn't a whole lot on the used market.

  1. US Kids Golf Ultralight series for $440. USKG seems to be the go-to for quality clubs in kid sizes. He'd slot into the 63-66" set, meaning the set comes with driver, 4h, 6i, 8i, PW, SW, and putter.

  2. Tour Edge TE-200 Varsity for $450. The set is designed to fill the gap between junior and adult clubs and comes with more clubs (driver, 5w, 5h, 6i-PW, SW, and putter). Not sure if he needs that many clubs starting out though.

  3. Callaway Edge for $550 (plus a stand bag). The one option I can find used (Costco is out of LH sets). Similar clubs to the Tour Edge set, but swaps the 5W for a 3W. This would be an adult-sized set though (regular flex) and may be too large/stiff though.

Again, any insight/comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Currently working on slowing down my swing; specifically I over-rotate on my back swing so I'm focused on shortening that and swinging at ~70% effort. My 100% swing speed with driver is typically 94-97 MPH and I feel like I've got both the flexibility and muscle strength to swing faster, with 105-110 being a realistic target.

All that to say, does speed training make sense to add to my training to raise my 70% effort swing speed, or should I be working on one issue at a time?

I finished my lithium upgrade and am now thinking about an AC conversion. Only looking to do a solid 25 mph, but want the torque of AC since it is hilly here. The Navitas seems to be the "favorite", and would be ~1,900 for the 4KW system with upgraded solenoid and wires...but the Silverwolf Teekon is both way more powerful (9KW/840A) AND ~$450 less expensive.

Curious to get input from those who have gone with the Teekon and/or have had both. Thanks.
