Asking for advice moving forward with the Google sideload decision.

So I've been living under an actual rock the last few months and by chance saw that Google is planning to eliminate the ability to sideload on Android OS (at least connected to playstore) in September. I think I have that info correct, now I bought a Samsung S20 two years ago for the purpose of being my handheld emulation device and as of lately, main way to play decomps. For my purposes, it has been working great so far. So with this news allegedly coming, my ability to sideload apk's is in jeopardy.

So I want to ask what should my pivot move be? I'm a novice with all of this but I've been looking into a Retroid or a steam deck as I don't believe they are married to having a google account to prevent this. Steam Deck feels a little overkill for my purposes and the form factor is not my favorite so likely a Retroid/Odin or something like that. I believe they also run on android but alas.

I'm admittedly new to this and pretty tech illiterate for the most part outside easy set ups and what not. What are people's current plans for this? Any personal recommendations?
